Glenrock Station; located in the unique high country of the South Island is an incredible place to enjoy the outdoors with amazing views of the Rakaia River and the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
Glenrock is a working farm owned by Andy and Kate Chapman.
There are 2 self contained houses available, both warm and comfortable with log burners, open fireplaces and fully self contained kitchens. We can accommodate up to 26 people in both houses with a combination of king, double, single and bunk beds to suit all requirements. The houses separate or together are ideal for couples, families and group bookings.
Glenrock is one of the few high country properties in such close proximity to the braided Rakaia River, affording easy access to all the river has to offer. The Rakaia is the best salmon river in New Zealand with the peak of the salmon season during the months of February and March. Salmon, brown and rainbow trout attract fishermen from around the world. A rare sight in autumn is the salmon spawning season as the fish return upstream for an amazing display. There are also a number of endangered birds which nest each year on the bare gravel beds for those keen on bird watching.
For those who want to get out on the river by boat, at the gorge there are 3 local jetboat operators on the Rakaia River as well as an area to launch boats on the property for jetboats, dinghies and kayaks - whatever your pleasure!
There is a great range of activities to enjoy while in this amazing high country location. Walking & Hiking, Skiing & Snowboarding, Scenic helicopter flights, Fishing & Hunting, Mountain biking and a great array of golf courses in the district to name a few. Of course you may choose to just relax in the sun and soak up the views with a good book in hand and that's OK too!
